Had never heard of this knife company but saw a post on an outdoor forum showing this knife, so I decided to buy one. The price is very good for what you get. It is full/tapered tang, with exposed section for lanyard and light hammering. 4mm thick, with good thickness through to the point. The handle, while looking very square, is actually quite comfortable with excellent wet grip. I am going to use this for a fishing knife and the grip is perfect - non slip, high vis, water resistant. I like the blade shape and did not have to resharpen it like so many other low cost knives. The serrations are very aggressive. I'm not sure what the so called "file" on top of the blade will be good for. Hoping it will work for scaling fish. Edges are square enough to throw sparks from a firesteel, but not near as well as a carbon knife. No problems stabbing the blade into a tree multiple times and just beating it around for testing. The sheath is the expected low cost nylon, though on the high side of quality for that. Better, I think, than the nylon sheaths Buck is using. It has a hard insert and the knife fits VERY tight in mine, which is great for me as I have a personal preference to keep the strap unsnapped on knives when I'm out fishing. Would I have preferred leather or Kydex? Well, sure. I might replace the sheath, but, as is, it is perfectly serviceable. Now, the reduction of a star comes from two things:The blade steel is 7Cr17MoV, which is similar to 440A with more vanadium added to increase toughness. It should have good corrosion resistance in the river, but even 8CR13MoV would have been a better choice. The belt loop on the sheath seems a bit flimsy and is offset a bit which causes the knife to ride a little cockeyed on the hip. This seems to be necessary with the design of the sheath. Also, it has only one row stitching at each end keeping the loop on. This is out of character with the quality of the rest of the sheath. If you are looking for a larger knife for fishing or general camp chores without spending a bunch of money, this, or its non serrated kin, seems like a good choice.Update: Using this for two seasons now and the belt loop is still secure, which surprises me. Rest of the knife is unaffected as well. Lots of river time with no rust and no damage to blade or handle. Good purchase.
