Truly awesome knife, granted I’ve only used it twice, 1 deer and 1 hog, however I must admit the gut hook is the best I’ve used thus far.I tan my deer hides and while everyone has their own skinning method, I use 6 cuts. It’s easy to penetrate too deep, busting a gut and getting your nice hide dirty, however (with the gut hook) I made all the cuts in just a couple minutes and the hide was off. I didn’t use the razor blade with the deer while skinning, it’s so sharp I was afraid I would cut the hide.I don’t keep the hog hides so I did 4 cuts down the hide of the hog a peeled it like a banana. I had it completely skinned in 20 minutes, I did use the blades to for the hog and did cut the hide in a few spots, but it doesn’t matter to me.The blades are easily replaced, however I do worry about how long the gut hook will keep its edge. I’ll post more updates as I process.
